A joint press-conference of the RIAC and the Federal Migration Service of Russia titled “International migration processes: tendencies, challenges, perspectives” during which the parties signed a cooperation agreement took place on May 17, 2013.
Konstantin Romodanovsky, head of the FMS, pointed out that the reader “Migration in Russia. 2000-2012” and the reference book “Migration field of Russia” will be of vital aid to the FMS specialists that are facing new challenges on a daily basis, and will help them deal with the economic, social and legal aspects of the modern migration processes.

Igor Ivanov, RIAC President, stated that he expected further development of fruitful cooperation between the RIAC and the FMS in resolving pertinent migration challenges: “We will be facing the migration problem throughout all our lives, therefore, it is vital that today it is included in the agenda and that we are joining our efforts in solving it”.
Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, noted that as of today several regional schools aimed at studying migration have been created in the leading Russian universities. Thus, integration the issue of migration into the humanities curriculum could be a vital step.
The speakers came to a joint opinion that the global scope of migration today is incontestable, hence in the future it is planned to present the materials to the partners abroad. The FMS and the RIAC expressed their gratitude to the authors of the publications. The participants to the press-conference especially highlighted the invaluable contribution of untimely deceased E. Tyuryukanova in studying migration.
The presentation of the project is a vital step that has showed what the perspectives of future development are. Therefore the next step will consist in preparing publications on migration in English and presenting Russia’s position to the international community.
