An expert meeting, “Russian-Indian Relations: New Agenda in Humanitarian and Scientific and Technological Cooperation” was held at the RIAC on 17 October. The meeting was arranged within the framework of the project “Russia-India: Heading for a New Agenda in Bilateral Relations” headed by Army General, Ambassador Vyacheslav I. Troubnikov.

An expert meeting, “Russian-Indian Relations: New Agenda in Humanitarian and Scientific and Technological Cooperation” was held at the RIAC on 17 October.

The meeting was arranged within the framework of the project “Russia-India: Heading for a New Agenda in Bilateral Relations” headed by Army General, Ambassador Vyacheslav I. Troubnikov.

RIAC program director Ivan N. Timofeyev acted as the meeting moderator. The participants included experts from the Russian Strategic Studies Institute, Center for Indian Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, People’s Friendship University of Russia and Rossotroudnichestvo Federal Agency, and newsmen from the Voice of Russia federal radio service.

The meeting agenda covered the following points:

  • Reciprocal perceptions in Russian-Indian relations: the current situation and perspectives.
  • Prospective ways to improve Russia’s image in Indian society: the most efficient channels of public diplomacy and soft-line influence.
  • The most efficient ways and means to expand the reach of Russia’s media in India.
  • Russian-Indian cooperation in the area of education and training of specialists: prospective areas and directions.

An analytical report will be prepared to sum up the meeting’s results.

Yet another expert meeting is scheduled within the framework of the project, to discuss the two countries’ interaction on international and regional issues.
