On June 2, 2020 Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) hosted an online round table entitled “COVID-19 Pandemic: Implications for China’s Foreign Policy and Impact on the China – US confrontation”.

Igor Ivanov, RIAC President, Igor Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and RIAC Member, Andrey Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to China and RIAC Member, a well as Sergey Razov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Italy and San Marino and RIAC Member, delivered welcoming remarks.

On June 2, 2020 Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) hosted an online round table entitled “COVID-19 Pandemic: Implications for China’s Foreign Policy and Impact on the China – US confrontation”.

Igor Ivanov, RIAC President, Igor Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and RIAC Member, Andrey Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to China and RIAC Member, a well as Sergey Razov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Italy and San Marino and RIAC Member, delivered welcoming remarks.

At the meeting, RIAC members and experts discussed the impact of the pandemic on the social and economic situation in China and on Beijing’s foreign policy as well as prospects of Russia – China partnership and the future of China – US rivalry.

Speeches were delivered by Alexey Maslov, Acting Director of the RAS Institute of Far Easter Studies, Boris Titov, Presidential Commissioner of Russia for the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights, Chairman of the Russia – China Committee of Friendship, Peace and Development and RIAC Member, Grigory Rapota, State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus and RIAC Member, Viktor Larin, RAS Full Member, Head of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies at RAS Far Eastern Branch’s Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnology of the Peoples of the Far East anв RIAC Member, Vladimir Lukin, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs and RIAC Member, Vasily Kashin, Leading Research Fellow at the RAS Institute of Far Eastern Studies, Head of the CCEIS Section of International Military-Political and Military-Economic problems at the Higher School of Economics and RIAC Member, Viktoria Panova, Vice President for International Relations of the Far Eastern Federal University and RIAC Member, Sergey Luzyanin, Professor at the Higher School of Economic and MGIMO University and RIAC Member, Sergey Sanakoev, President of the Asia Pacific Reserch Centre and RIAC Member, Sergey Rogov, Academic Director of the RAS Institute of US and Canadian Studies, RAS Full Member and RIAC Member, Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of Russia to the European Union and RIAC Member, as well as Fares Kilzie, Chairman of CREON Capital and RIAC Member.

Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs, chaired the discussion. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, delivered concluding remarks at the round table.
