On November 16­­–17, 2020, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam held the 12th South China Sea International Conference titled “Maintaining Peace and Cooperation through Time of Turbulence.”

Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Manager, took part in the Conference and spoke at the session “Unplanned or Planned encounters: Building codes to prevent incidents at sea."

H.E. Robyn Mudie, Australia’s Ambassador to Vietnam, chaired the discussion. Prof. Carl Thayer, Emeritus Professor, University of New South Wales (Australia), Prof. Pan Junwu, Vice Dean of the School of International Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law (China), Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan (Retd), Director General, National Maritime Foundation (India), Vice Admiral Yoji Koda (Retd), Former Commander in Chief, Japan Self Defence Fleet, and Capt. Martin A. Sebastian, Former Senior Fellow/Head, Centre for Maritime Security and Diplomacy, Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA), also spoke at the session.
