On October 25, 2019 in Moscow, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with Primakov Center for International Cooperation and Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund organized a conference "Political Mosaic of the Middle East: Russia's Strategy and Inside View" as part of the 9th research and educational program “Dialogue in the Name of the Future — 2019”, dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of Yevgeny Primakov. More than 60 young specialists in international relations, political scientists and experts from 27 countries, including the CIS and non-CIS countries, took part in the Dialogue 2019.

On October 25, 2019 in Moscow, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with Primakov Center for International Cooperation and Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund organized a conference "Political Mosaic of the Middle East: Russia's Strategy and Inside View" as part of the 9th research and educational program “Dialogue in the Name of the Future — 2019”, dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of Yevgeny Primakov. More than 60 young specialists in international relations, political scientists and experts from 27 countries, including the CIS and non-CIS countries, took part in the Dialogue 2019.

The Conference consisted of two sessions focusing on topical issues of the Middle East agenda.

In the first session “Russian Strategy in Syria and Around: Will Pragmatism Win?” young specialists were addressed by Alexander Aksenyonok, RIAC Vice President, Naseef Naeem, Zenith Council Research Director (Germany), Elena Suponina, Advisor to Director of Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISI), and Alexey Khlebnikov, RIAC Expert. The session was moderated by Ruslan Mamedov, Coordinator of RIAC Middle East Projects.

The speakers of the second session “Russia and Security in the Gulf: How to Regulate Regional Competition” included Irina Zvyagelskaya, Head of the Center for the Middle East Studies at RAS IMEMO, Chief Researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, RAS Institute of Oriental Studies, Professor of the Oriental Studies Department of MGIMO University; and Nikolay Surkov, Senior Fellow at the Center for the Middle Eastern Studies at RAS IMEMO, Associate Professor at the Oriental Studies Department (MGIMO). The discussion was moderated by Grigory Lukyanov, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Politics and Governance at HSE, Research Fellow at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies.

The participants of Dialogue 2019 highly estimated the "Political Mosaic of the Middle East: Russia's Strategy and Inside View" Conference. The Dialogue in the Name of the Future program has been held since 2011 and is a several days long series of lectures, seminars, round tables, and meetings between young specialists and leading representatives of political, scientific and cultural circles, as well as government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
