On February 14, 2020, the 56th International Munich Security Conference was opened in Munich. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and Wolfgang Schäuble, President of the Bundestag, spoke at the opening of the conference.

The Prime Ministers of Canada and Norway, the Federal Chancellor of Austria, the Foreign Ministers of India, the Republic of Korea, Spain, and other prominent politicians from around the world shared their views on security issues. In total, over 700 politicians, diplomats, military representatives of business and academic circles from around the world are taking part in one of the most respected and representative global forums. The conference is attended by 35 heads of state and government, as well as approximately 100 heads of military and foreign affairs agencies of various states.

Russia is represented in Munich by Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister. A group of RIAC members participating in MSC includes Alexander Dynkin, Herman Gref, Alexander Grushko, Igor Ivanov, Andrey Kortunov, Fedor Lukyanov, Alexey Pushkov, Dmitry Trenin, Igor Yurgens, and Alexander Yakovenko.
