RIAC - Astana International Financial Center discuss EAEU financial integration

25 -28 May 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan the expert school “The Role of the Astana International Financial Center in the Integration Processes and the Establishment of the EAEU Commona Finance Market” took place. The school was organized by the AIFC with the participation of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). Yuri Kofner, Head of the Eurasian Sector at the HS and chief editor of the Eurasian Studies portal in his lecture analyzed the integration of financial markets in the EU and the EAEU from a comparative perspective.As part of the lecture program, representatives of the AIFC addressed the participants of the expert school: Zere Seydimbek, head of internal policy of the AIFC Board of Governors; Timur Abushkin, Head of Financial Markets Development, AIFC Exchange; Zhanat Kazbekova, Supervisor of the Training Center of the AIFC Continuing Professional Development Bureau; Kairat Kaliev, AIFC Development Director.Ksenia Bolshakova, Head of Career and Career Guidance Superjob, told the participants of the Expert School about the latest trends in the labor market. Anna Budaeva, Head of Banking Marketing, Department of Marketing and Communication of the Russian National Payment Card System “MIR”, introduced the participants to the current state of affairs in the development and distribution of the MIE card in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).Business coach Alexei Burba held a master class in preparing presentations. A team building training conducted by RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov allowed the participants to form cohesive project groups on the very first day of the school.Yuri Kofner gave a lecture on the challenges and prospects for creating a common financial market for the EAEU by 2025, on the problems of macroeconomic convergence between the member states of the Union, as well as on the latest EU experience in this field. The expert gave recommendations based on HSE research. Director of the Financial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Arman Khachatryan, introduced the audience to current trends in the field of financial integration in the EAEU space. Also as part of the expert school an open discussion took place with Kairat Kelimbetov, the CEO of the AIFC.24 young experts and curators from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Belarus took part in the work. Within five working days, the participants together with the curators developed a draft foresight for the development of financial integration in the EAEU area, and also determined the role of the AIFC in this process. The result was three projects from the groups, as well as the final agreed draft foresight.The closing ceremony was attended by Kairat Kelimbetov, CEO of the International Financial Center “Astana”, who handed out certificates to the participants. He noted the importance of such educational initiatives and wished the participants further professional growth. RIAC Program Manager Ekaterina Chimiris in her closing remarks emphasized that the most important processes are to be launched after completion of the school, when participants enriched with new knowledge and contacts receive a new impetus for development in their field.
