Rector of the Urals Federal University named after the First Russian President B.N. Yeltsyn.

Graduated from Ural State University. Holds a Ph.D. degree in History.

After graduation, remained at the university; worked as assistant at the Faculty of USSR History; secretary of the Young Communist League; senior lecturer of the Faculty of Modern History and Theory of International Relations.

Worked at the Urals division of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the External Communications Directorate of the Presidium; head of the Information and Analysis Directorate of the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region.

Served as Sverdlovsk Region’s Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations.

From 2007 to 2009, Chairman of the government of the Sverdlovsk Region.

On 9 April 2010, appointed Rector of the new Urals Federal University by Russian Federation government decree.
