Nikolay Bordyuzha
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation.
Graduated from the Perm Higher Command and Engineer Military College and from higher diplomatic courses at the Russian Diplomatic Academy under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Served as a military officer in the Strategic Missile Forces. Served in the Soviet KGB, first as senior operative in the Special Section, then as instructor of the Communist Party local committee, then finally as the head of the USSR KGB Human Resources Department.
In the 1990s, served as First Deputy Head of the Human Personnel Directorate of FAPSI under the President of the Russian Federation (RF); Deputy Commander of the RF Border Guard; Director of the RF Federal Border Guard; Secretary of the RF Security Council; Head of the Presidential Administration; Chairman of the RF State Customs Committee; Ambassador at large of the Russian MFA.
From 1999 to 2003, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Denmark.
On 28 April 2003, was elected at the Collective Security Treaty Organization summit of heads of states and governments to be Secretary General of that institution. Remains in this capacity to this day.
