Advancement of Russian scientific achievements abroad and improvement of positions of Russian universities in university ratings is gaining importance. In an interview to Snob magazine on existing projects, initiatives and tasks of his ministry, Deputy Education Minister Igor Fedyukin underlined that solution of the numerous problems in Russian science and education requires, among other things, participation in the international scholarly processes.

Foreign publications offer a way out, but authors should be skilled in internationally recognized writing approaches, preferably in English. Mr. Fedyukin believes one may cope with the formidable hurdle through learning “to communicate one’s thoughts within the profession’s standards”. Especially important is “to furnish universities with specialized academic writing centers” that would also offer training in overall writing proficiency.

Currently RIAC is pilot-running a program aimed to integrate Russian scholars in foreign academic editions, inviting the interested agencies, universities, research centers and the business community to close cooperation.
