On November 27, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Moscow, hosted the Annual Conference of Rectors and Pro-Rectors on International Cooperation, the main platform used to provide coordination and streamline long-term financial support for increasing efforts of Russian universities and appropriate agencies on the world market of education and research services.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation, Federal Migration Service and other agencies and structures involved in the process.

RIAC took an active part, as it can boast ten major Russian universities being its corporate members, as well a series of programs aimed at assisting internationalization of higher education activities. Besides, RIAC plays a unique role offering a platform for universities to interact with the government bodies, business, media and RIAC international partners.

At a plenary session, RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov said that university internationalization has a strategic aim far beyond statistical growth of students, agreements and events. Although important, these tracks are only tactical, while internationalization is a much deeper and multifaceted endeavor aimed to advance Russia's global integration on a fully-fledged and beneficial basis.

The participants were presented RIAC's two core programs for Russian universities, i.e. A+Standard intended to improve university websites, and Global Science established to assist Russian scholars in gaining grounds in foreign academic literature.

The participants list also included RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev, Program Manager Ekaterina Chimiris and Program Coordinator Anna Kuznetsova.
