On June 22–26, 2020 the University Consortium organized a series of lectures and seminars. Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, member of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) Dmitry Trenin gave lectures on Russia's foreign policy and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on it. In his speeches, he also touched upon the topic of the future relations of Russia with the USA and EU countries. Besides, there was a lecture given by Robert Legvold, professor of political science at Columbia University (USA), it was about the role of Washington and Moscow in shaping the new world order. Research fellow of Centre for comprehensive European and international studies (CCEIS), RIAC expert Lev Sokolshchik and referent at the RIAC Ivan Bocharov took part at this program.

During the events, a wide range of issues related to international security was discussed. The new-type COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on international relations. The epidemic has intensified the struggle for world leadership, the rivalry of the superpowers and regional powers for a place in the new post-pandemic world. In particular, the already difficult relations between the US and China have worsened. In the context of global confrontation, a new bipolarity is forming, in which regional players play an important role. In this regard, building a system of international equilibrium is becoming a priority issue that the international community has to solve.
University Consortium is a partnership project of American, European, and Russian universities, aimed at strengthening mutual trust between regions. The project forms an inter-regional network, the purpose of which is to stimulate the dialogue of students, faculty, and policy-elites of the USA, Russia, and European countries.
