On June 21-22, 2014, Beijing hosted the 3rd World Peace Forum sponsored by the Tsinghua University and Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, with Russia being represented by the Russian International Relations Council. Following the model of 2012 and 2013, the 3rd Forum under the motto “In Pursuit of Common Security: Peace, Mutual Trust, and Responsibility” gathered politicians, diplomats, civil society leaders, journalists, university faculty and experts engaged in current international security issues with the Asia-Pacific focus.

Following the model of 2012 and 2013, the 3rd Forum under the motto “In Pursuit of Common Security: Peace, Mutual Trust, and Responsibility” gathered politicians, diplomats, civil society leaders, journalists, university faculty and experts engaged in current international security issues with the Asia-Pacific focus.

RIAC President Igor Ivanov made a plenary session report on the impact on Asia-Pacific security from relations between great powers. RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov presented his views at panels “Cybersecurity and International Norms” and “The Role of the SCO in Maintaining Regional Stability.” Andrey Denisov, Russian Ambassador in China and RIAC member, and Sergey Karaganov, Dean of the World Economy and International Affairs Department at Moscow Higher School of Economics and Honorary Chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, spoke at the panel “Sino-Russian Comprehensive Security Cooperation and Global Security.” Dr. Karaganov also attended the panel on European security and its impact on global processes.

On the sidelines, RIAC representatives met students, the faculty and administration of the Tsinghua University, Chinese and foreign journalists, and heads of several Beijing organizations partnering with RIAC.
