On April 29, 2015, analysts of RIAC and Carnegie Endowment held a meeting on the Middle East. The event was attended by Carnegie Vice President Andrew Weiss, Russia and Eurasia program director Eugene Rumer, and former NSC director Steven Simon, a MENA expert, RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev, RIAC and IMEMO Board member Vyacheslav Trubnikov, Senior Researcher of RAS Institute for Oriental Studies Irina Zvyagelskaya.

Having focused on key regional problems with special attention to the rising Islamic State and Yemen aggravation, the participants agreed that Moscow and Washington share many attitudes and should advance the Middle East dialogue.
