On May 12, 2023, RIAC hosted a business meeting with representatives of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

The meeting agenda focused on the continuation of cooperation between RIAC and the ICRC until the end of 2023 in connection with the change of the head of the Regional Delegation. Boris Michel has been appointed as the new head of the Regional Delegation.

The discussion points included the challenges of modern international relations, including issues of security, food crises, internal and international migration.

The parties confirmed their interest in continuing cooperation that started in 2021 with a workshop on security issues in the Sahel region and the release of a joint report on the results of the event. They also confirmed holding a joint round table on innovation and security, and how to overcome the food crisis in Africa, scheduled on May 31, 2023.

The meeting was attended by Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director General; Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Academic Director; and Tatyana Bogdasarova, RIAC Program Manager.
