On October 10, 2023, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center, Azerbaijan) held a joint closed online workshop on security issues in the South Caucasus in the context of interaction of regional players.

Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director General, and Farid Shafiev, Chairman of the Board of AIR Center, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.

The experts discussed a wide range of issues related to ensuring security in the region, considered the factors of third states, such as Russia, Turkey and Iran, within the framework of regional cooperation, as well as issues of normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.

The event was attended by Eduard Solovyov, Head of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at RAS IMEMO; Stanislav Pritchin, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at at RAS IMEMO; Lana Ravandi-Fadai, Senior Researcher and Head of the Eastern Cultural Center of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor at Higher School of Economics; Pavel Shlykov, Associate Professor, Department of History of the Near and Middle East, IAAS LMSU; Fikret Sadikhov, Political Scientist, Professor of the Department of Political Sciences, Western Caspian University (Baku); Ilgar Velizade, Head of the South Caucasus Political Science Club; and Seymur Mammadov, Editor-in-chief of the Baku Tribune.

RIAC was represented at the event by Elena Karpinskaya, RIAC Director of Programs, and Milan Lazovich, RIAC Program Coordinator.
