Description

“Ninengan Mae”, a Burmese translation of the “Stateless” is a short and a brief book about the Rohingya refugees of Myanmar. Also described by the United Nations as the most persecuted refugees in the world, Rohingya pronto became recognized as the “new Palestinians” in Asia following their forceful displacement due to genocide and violence. The book begins with the History of the Rohingya, focusing further on some of the complex aspects such as the enraged Buddhism, conflict resolutions, the Rohingya situation in the post-COVID world and the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. Concerning the recent Rohingya relocation to the Bhasan Char Island may not be a long lasting solution. Therefore, the Myanmar government, which is already facing isolation and criticism from the rest of the world, should therefore consider including the Rohingya as “citizens” of the country rather than treating them as “stateless”.
