Graduated from the Department of International Economic Relations at MGIMO University.

Mr. Abov was a founder and Deputy Director of the School of International Business and Business Administration at MGIMO University. He worked as Deputy Editor-in Chief at JSC Moskovskie Novosti, where he also served as Vice President.

He oversaw the launch of a number of major print media projects, including for the Sovershenno Sekretno Holding and News Corp., among others.

In addition, Mr. Abov has served as Deputy Director General in Charge of Publishing Strategies for ProfMedia, and has been a member of the boards of directors at a number of publishing houses (Komsomolskaya Pravda, Izvestia, Sovetsky Sport and Independent Media), the ProfMedia Broadcasting Corporation, etc. In 2004–2005, he was Chairman of the Board at Izvestia.

May 2007–2020: Deputy Director General for International Projects at Federal State Budgetary Institution Rossiyskaya Gazeta. He coordinates the international multimedia project “Russia Beyond the Headlines” and the U.S.–Russia expert analytic project “Russia Direct”.

1998-present: Vice President of the Russian Guild of Press Publishers (GIPP).

2000-present: Vice President and member of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).

Mr. Abov has won the Media Manager of the Year national award on numerous occasions.

2005–2010: Member of the Collegium of the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation; Deputy Chairman of the House of the Media Community Public Board on Press Complaints.
