In a recent issue of “Other News” a long-standing editor of the New Left Review Tariq Ali recalls his numerous encounters with recently deceased Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, who he describes as “lover of literature, a fiery speaker and a man who fought for his people and won”.

An article Russian Soft Power Under Construction by one of the winners of 2011 RIAC “Global Prospects” competition of best scientific work Oleg Shakirov was recently published by e-International Relations (e-IR) electronic journal. The paper analyzes the measures taken by Russian government in order to improve Russia’s image abroad, diversify means of foreign policy and structure Russia’s soft power resource base.

Recent paper by Sukjoon Yoon, retired ROK Navy Captain and a senior research fellow of the Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy, published by Pacific Forum CSIS (PF CSIS) on March the 6th analyzes the rationale behind recent North Korean nuclear tests and reviews possible threats coming from Kim Jong-un’s regime.

New article by Pavel K. Baev Chagrin and Ambivalence in Putin’s Foreign Policy was published by Eurasia Daily Monitor and can be accessed at the web page of the Jamestown Foundation. In this paper the author voices his very critical view of Vladimir Putin and Russia’s foreign policy.
