This digest was inspired by the ongoing debates about the Middle East and South Asia. History is not letting go of Israel and Palestine, again and again bringing this story to the very center of the international relations. No efficient way to cut this Gordian knot. Yet. Here you will find Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan and at the very end India with its economic dilemmas. And maps to guide you through this tale of many cities.

 


 

Maps have always been a better way to understand the moves and changes of history. Once again this digest features a set of maps to set the fascinating and troubled history of the Middle East into the minds of wider public. Here are 40 beautifully colored maps of the Middle East with the major transformations and revolutions that shaped the face of the region throughout its modern history. 

 


 

This piece is centered on Egypt, Turkey and Iran relations in the Middle East region. These three countries grew closer and were drawn apart throughout the 2nd half of the 20th century and are still quite undecided towards each other. Yet they can build and transform axes of the region matrix the way that is most suitable to them. Here is a brief retrospective of the Middle East from the point of view of Egypt, Turkey and Iran.

 


 

Strategic survey for Israel 2013-2014 is a recent publication by the Institute for National Security Studies based in Israel.
