On June 6, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) held an expert meeting “Getting Armed Non-State Actors to Respect Humanitarian Law: the Practice of the Geneva Call”. Geneva Call was represented by Director of Operations Hichem Khadhraoui and Head of Eurasia Region Marie Lequin Coutin. The meeting was also attended by Alain Deletroz, Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov opened the event.

The meeting agenda covered the following issues: challenges and opportunities for encouraging armed non-State actors to comply with International Humanitarian Law; NGO’s role in getting armed non-State actors to respect  the Humanitarian Law; the diversity of relationships between armed non-State actors and displaced people.

RIAC was represented by Timur Makhmutov, RIAC Deputy Directors of Programs and Natalia Evtikhevich, RIAC Program Manager.
