Graduated from the Lomonosov Archangelsk State Pedagogical Institute. Full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Doctor of Sciences (Philosophy), professor.

Worked as school teacher (History and English) at the Rembuevskaya School in the Kholmogor district of the Arkhangelsk Region; then as assistant, senior lecturer, assistant professor and professor of Archangelsk State Pedagogical Institute (later renamed to Lomonosov Pomor State University). Headed the Center for Gender Studies of said university. Lectured at George Washington University, the University of Oregon, and at Lewis & Clark College (USA).

Worked as head of division of science and tertiary education of the Arkhangelsk Region Administration. Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Arkhangelsk Region Administration. Vice-Governor for Social Policy of the Arkhangelsk Region.

Since 2010, Rector of the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University.

Member of the Working Group on Tertiary Education and Science of the Barents Sea Euro-Arctic Region. Member of the Academic and Methodology Council on Philosophy of the Ministry of Education and Science. Chairwoman of the Council of Rectors of the Arkhangelsk Region. Chairwoman of the regional branch of the Russian Philosophy Society. Member of the management committee of the inter-regional Lomonosov Fund. Chairwoman of the Association of Regional Knowledge Specialists of the Arkhangelsk Region. Chairwoman of the Arkhangelsk regional branch of the Women’s Union of Russia.

Author of over 80 academic papers.

Academic focus: research on leadership; history of science and education in the Arkhangelsk Region.
