Preventing the Next Manchester

At the given time, the Manchester terrorist attack seems destined to become synonymous with Nice and Paris as we reminisce about the array of micro-genocides, where deliberate and calculated acts of butchery and extermination of “Western infidels” have now become the norm. BBC host Katherine Kay said that Britain and Europe will have to “get used to” terrorist attacks such as the bombing at a concert hall in Manchester, in which 22 innocent people were murdered. “Europe is getting used to attacks like these,” Kay said on air. “We have to, because we are never going to be able to wipe this out".picture alliance / Han YanThe floodgates have long been opened wide for the mass exodus of Muslims into the European heartland, where many newcomers have vanquished any intentions to fully integrate with the culture of their host country and become concentrated in tribal enclaves that seek to agitate for their religious autonomy that seeks exemptions from the existing laws and values. Social media marketing of anti-Christian and anti-Jewish propaganda has targeted the disengaged in recruiting local lone wolves seeking maximum exposure. This societal shift is a much different type of war, where traditional battle lines are not only entrenched armies facing each other over territorial ambitions in the Middle East, but rather a structure of life comprising legal, political, and economic cogs where religion has become the hub of the socio-economic components. When political correctness and tolerance have us afraid to criticize, and a progressive liberal society agrees to Muslim petitions for religious self-governance within the accommodating country, the other components, including the more radical elements, begin to metastasize. What is the answer to preventing the next Manchester and thwarting any further barbaric slaughter of our innocent children? Or shall we simply accept Katherine Kay’s narrative? Raising the terrorist attack threat to critical, while understandable, is simply a temporary political response to ease the tension among a fearful public and hopefully root out a potential network behind the latest terrorist attack, usually resulting in the arrests of a few family members or close associates of the suicide bomber. Eventually, a new cycle of news takes over. Western civilization, more so in Europe, is facing its greatest hurdle since World War II. Victory was eventually at hand with a concerted effort and sacrifice by the Russians, Americans, and a host of allied countries. A multi-pronged strategy will require diversified measures to thwart Islamic extremism from within one’s territorial and cultural borders. First and most obvious is a coordinated international offensive measure where military forces strike violently at the core of the enemy’s home base of terrorist operations. Back in the homeland, government leaders must turn the page from political correctness and ensure that immigrants fully understand that they must assimilate and integrate into the Western culture and language of the host country. Where the percentage of Muslims has increased, as in England, Sweden, Germany, and France, they have exerted demands on the presiding government to allow self-rule within their municipal quarters under Sharia Law. For instance, there are 88 Islamic Sharia courts operating legally in England behind doors closed to independent observers, in which decisions are clearly unfair to women, backed by intimidation, and seriously out of step with trends in Western legislation. A two-court system in a country entrenches division in society and resists integration and community cohesion. Immigrants cannot not be allowed to import extremism from the sectarian tribalism they were fleeing. Politicians have failed their constituents. Just as clergy and civil rights leaders marched and preached from the pulpit against the inhumane actions and behaviors that discriminated against and segregated Blacks within America, Muslim leaders must also demonstrate the same courage and defiance in exposing extremism being espoused by some Muslim leaders or those within the mosques and neighborhoods recruiting radicals willing to carry out acts of terrorism. Muslim leadership must publicly preach against extremism, and they must work closely with intelligence operatives infiltrating the dangerous segments. Ardent supporters of ISIS must be captured and swiftly deported as a clear example of zero tolerance. Muslim leaders must now decide to be part of the solution or remain part of the problem. The West must also look to Israel’s playbook in dealing with the threat. The Israelis, against all odds, in the center of the Middle East with hatred facing the Jewish State down from many sides, whether from Iran, Syria, Gaza, Hezbollah, or Hamas, have demonstrated the incredible ability to maintain relative security and safety for their citizens.First and foremost is a nearly impenetrable border that includes physical and cyber barriers, and an ever-prepared and agile law enforcement that is both visible and undercover. The rapid reaction by the Israelis is evident time and time again when lone wolf assailants are shot dead from multiple directions during an attack where would-be casualties are minimized or left with only minor injuries, at the very least during the attack.Secondly, Mossad, the Israeli spy agency, is second to none in burrowing behind enemy lines to discover pending terrorist attacks, networks, and larger threats to the nation. Western nations should adopt the tactics of Mossad, likely the world’s most efficient killing machine. When Mossad kills, it is not breaking the law. It is fulfilling a sentence sanctioned by the prime minister of the day. It is this reputation that captures the attention of would-be terrorists thinking twice as to whether they will live by the sword and thus die by the sword.Lastly, there must be a price paid by families of the terrorists. Israel has utilized this policy very well by leveling the homes of families where assailants resided. In the case of attacks in Europe or North America, the families should be considered for deportation to their country of origin. This might seem harsh, but just ask the many Manchester families reeling in pain from deaths and maiming of their children if deportation is too punitive. While implemented very sparingly, Israel’s demolition of homes becomes a deterrent to the would-be terrorist wondering how his family will cope with the fallout, or the parents might confront the prospective martyr prior to the attack out of fear of losing their home. Now the Palestinian Authority has attempted to counter this policy by providing the family a lifetime stipend for the loss of a child who has carried out a suicide bombing. How unlikely is it that a family member is completely unaware of their son’s suspicious activities, bomb-making instructions found in the bedroom, or bomb-making purchases found in the garage? The fear of losing one’s freedom, job, and livelihood in the host country that opened the welcome mat and being sent back to the land they desperately sought to escape might just be a value incentive to turn in their child. If, in fact, it is highly probable that family members were aware of their son’s plans or communications with overseas terrorist networks prior to the murderous act, they should be deported. The veracity of terrorist attacks close to home, unfettered immigration, Sharia Law creating an incompatible society, and diminished governing leadership have the world crossing a precipice where failure to navigate the complex chasm will result in Western civilization falling into an ever more dangerous vortex where democracies live in a state of fear and self-exile within their own country.A military strategy alone will not solve the core issues surrounding terrorism and religious tribalism, where the bad guys are simply replaced with more bad guys. A political strategy that hones in on eventual governing capability in the Middle East, where policy makers understand traditional Western democracy cannot flourish among an unwilling people, is at best the starting point. If that is the case, it is best that historical tribal sects remain regionally segregated under rulers abroad and not permitted to flourish in countries where democracies exist. The arrival of President Trump on to the world’s stage, representing the free world, was evident during a speech to over fifty Arab world leaders during his historic visit to Saudi Arabia. Trump called on them to act as partners to root out pure evil from their nations and the earth. We must decide if we are going to accept Katherine Kay’s view of the world, where she reiterated, “we’re going to see more of these kinds of attacks taking place in Europe, and Europe is starting to get used to that,” or if it is time, rather late however, to decide and act in determining if we choose life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness or reppression for our children’s future. In the meantime, President Eisenhower made it clear during the Cold War, and it remains true today in our current crisis, to preserve Western civilization when he said, “the cost of successful national defense is high, but the cost of failure is everything”.
